- 3 cups crushed tomatoes
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 can kidney beans (optional)
- 1 Tbs olive oil
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp salt (divided)
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp rubbed sage (divided)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- a sprinkle nutmeg
- 2 tsp chili powder
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add sliced carrots, sweet potatoes, and diced apples. Season with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook for about 5 minutes.
- Add ground turkey to the pot, breaking it into smaller pieces; cook until browned (5-7 minutes).
- Stir in tomato paste and chili powder; mix well.
- Add crushed tomatoes and kidney beans (if using), combine thoroughly.
- Reduce heat to low-medium and let simmer for 20-30 minutes.
