- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 piece egg white
- Vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- 2-3 dried red chilies or crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup tomato ketchup
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- Optional garnishes: sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
- Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces and coat with cornstarch, egg white, salt, and black pepper in a mixing bowl.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat; add sesame oil.
- Fry the coated chicken until golden brown (about 5–7 minutes). Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In the same wok, sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant. Add dried chilies.
- Mix in ketchup, soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, vinegar, sugar/honey, and water to create the sauce.
- Return the chicken to the wok; toss to coat evenly and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
