- 2 tablespoons unsulphured molasses
- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
- ¾ teaspoon ground cloves
- Icing and sprinkles for decorating
Instructions
- In a stand mixer bowl, beat together room temperature butter, both sugars, and salts until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the egg and molasses until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, ground ginger, cinnamon, apple pie spice, and cloves.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture while mixing on low speed until just combined.
- Divide dough in half, roll out between parchment paper to about ⅜-inch thick, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut chilled dough into desired shapes and place on lined baking sheets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool before decorating.
