Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp instant yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter (for laminating)
  • 810 dark chocolate sticks


Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Add warm milk and softened butter; knead until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  2. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, place cold butter in the center, and fold the edges over it completely.
  3. Roll out the folded dough into a large rectangle; fold into thirds like a letter. Chill for 30 minutes. Repeat two more times.
  4. Roll out the final dough into a rectangle, cut into smaller rectangles, place chocolate sticks near one edge, and roll tightly around them.
  5. Place rolled pastries on a parchment-lined baking tray; cover and let rise for another 45 minutes.
  6. Brush with beaten egg for shine before baking at 375°F (190°C) for about 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
