  • ¼ cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup white apple vinegar
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh lemon juice (from 2 tablespoons)
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)


Instructions

  1. Slice chicken breasts in half lengthwise and pound to ½ inch thick. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper before dredging in flour.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Set aside.
  3. Deglaze the skillet with white apple vinegar while scraping up brown bits. Allow to reduce by half (about 10 minutes).
  4. Add butter and minced garlic; cook for one minute then stir in Worcestershire sauce and chicken broth.
  5. To thicken the sauce (optional), mix cornstarch with cold water and stir into the bubbling sauce.
  6. Reduce heat and gradually add heavy cream and Parmesan cheese until melted and combined.
  7. Return chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over it, cover partially, and simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes.
