- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 cups fresh strawberries (chopped)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate (chopped)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Fresh strawberries (for garnish)

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; whisk until well mixed.
- In another bowl, beat eggs lightly; add milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract; mix until smooth.
- Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients while stirring gently. Finally, stir in boiling water until smooth.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
- For the strawberry filling, cook chopped strawberries with sugar over medium heat until syrupy; stir in lemon juice and cornstarch mixture to thicken.
- For the ganache, heat cream until just boiling; pour over chopped chocolate and whisk until smooth.
- Once cakes are completely cooled, layer them with strawberry filling in between and frost with ganache.
