- 1 cup browned butter
- 1 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 cups peeled and chopped apples
- 1 tbsp butter
- 6 oz room temp cream cheese
- 1/2 stick room temp butter
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
Instructions
- Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until fragrant, then allow to cool.
- In another skillet, sauté the chopped apples with butter and cinnamon for about 10 minutes until tender. Cool completely.
- In a bowl, whisk together cooled browned butter and brown sugar. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in cooled caramelized apples.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour batter into a prepared baking pan and bake for 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool.
- For the frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar, cinnamon, and maple syrup until fluffy.
