  • 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed overnight in the fridge)
  • 1 bar dark chocolate (or milk chocolate), broken into 1 oz pieces
  • 1 egg (for wash)
  • 2 tbsp water (for egg wash)
  • Optional: 2 tbsp sugar
  • Optional: 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: pinch sea salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each puff pastry sheet and cut into rectangles about 4 inches by 6 inches.
  3. Place one piece of chocolate at the wide end of each rectangle and roll tightly toward the pointed end; seal edges gently.
  4. Whisk together egg and water for the egg wash; brush each croissant with this mixture. Sprinkle sugar on top if desired.
  5. Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown and puffy.
