Ingredients
- 2 cups apples (cored, peeled, and chopped)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 14 tablespoons unsalted butter (cut into pieces)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add chopped apples, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, water, and salt. Cook for about 5–7 minutes until apples are tender.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well. Cut in pieces of unsalted butter until crumbly.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish. Press half of the oatmeal mixture into the bottom to form a crust.
- Spread the apple filling evenly over the crust and crumble the remaining oatmeal mixture on top.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes or until golden brown on top. Let cool before cutting into bars.
